This photograph is significant to me as it is the first pano photograph that I’ve ever taken. The technical challenges that I overcame would be the location, as at the time there were quite a few people walking along the trail that goes in front of the lake, so in order to get them out of the image I went as close to the lake as possible.  In order to get rid of the unsightly vertical lines running down my panoramic image I clone stamped them out whilst using the shadows of the waves in the water (and the clone stamp) to make the waves look as if they continued over the line.  I believe the strongest part of the image to be the clouds converging at the sun, as its rays being seen over the clouds and sky ever so subtly creates a nice aesthetic focal point and follows the rule of thirds. The strongest part of this image is where the sun peaks through the converging clouds as, even though the sun is blown out, it creates nice lighting for the clouds whilst the rays of the sun leads the viewer’s eye to other aspects of the image.  The weakest part of the image is the nearly dull quality of the colours and shadows as it gives the image an almost lifeless feeling.

This image is significant to me because it represents my efforts to try techniques that I haven’t attempted before – in this case panning – while the outcome shows that I have the potential to successfully execute the technique.  I overcame the limited space on the table I was using and ensured that the car wouldn’t fall off when I pushed it by putting a barrier of erasers at the edge of the table.  I used the paintbrush with a fifty percent opacity to create a vignette in order to draw attention to the car while blocking out the distracting elements in the background.  I believe the strongest part of the image to be the movement shown through lines of light as it takes the viewer’s eyes through the image.  The weakest part of the image is the dark spot on the car coupled with the noise as it distracts the eye away from the rest of the image.

This image shows that creatures that humans find irritating or even terrifying have vulnerable aspects of their own and while we are helped during times of vulnerability they are left alone.  I overcame the movement of the wasp, managing to capture it without being blurred.  In order to emphasize the wasp I made everything but the wasp black and white while allowing it to keep its vibrant colour.  I believe the strongest aspect of the image to be the detail of the wasp’s pattern along with the injured wing as it adds to the images meaning – the pattern being what we humans use to identify it as a potentially harmful wasp while the injured wing shows that it is vulnerable and hurt.  I believe the weakest part of the image to be the slight noise in the background – which may serve to distract the viewer from the wasp – and how the injured wing is out of focus, which could indicate to the viewer that it doesn’t serve any importance though it does provide contrast to the uninjured wing.

I chose this image because it represents being stuck between a difficult decision and how the possibilities can end up keeping you stuck in place until you decide.  I overcame the fact that I did not possess a macro lens at the time, so in order to capture the detail of the seed I got as close as I could without making it impossible to properly focus.  In order to give the image a hopeless feeling, I converted it to black and white while slightly increasing the saturation of red and magenta in the seed.  I believe the strongest part of the image to be how everything except for the seed is out of focus along with the sharpness of the veins of the seed as it draws the viewer’s attention toward the seed.  The weakest aspect of the image is the noise present throughout the image, as it gives the image a grainy appearance.

This image is significant because it provides a unique perspective of one of my loved cats.  I overcame the constant movement of my cat – Aly – while being able to get into the position necessary in order to get the perspective present in the image.  I decreased the saturation in the background in order to draw attention to Aly’s vibrantly coloured eye.  The strongest part of the image in my opinion would be Aly’s eye, as it is vibrantly coloured and immediately catches the attention of the viewer.  The weakest part of the image is the noise, as it is distracting and adds a grainy quality to the image.

This image was taken when Ashley, Taylor and I were finished taking images for one of our assignments and decided to abandon the seriousness of taking photographs for an assignment leading to the creation of this amusing image.  It shows that, even though we are entering the threshold of adulthood, we have still retained some silliness and childlike immaturity that makes times like these enjoyable.  I overcame the multiple wild strands of hair by using the clone stamp tool to remove the majority of them.  I believe the strongest aspect of the image to be the content as it portrays the occasion. The weakest part of the image is how Taylor’s shoulder is cut off, giving the image a feel of force as it looks as if Taylor is trying to push her way into the image.
